Breathing Life Back Into GoGorgeous

Well, its been almost a year since I last posted. I kind of went off the grid with writing this blog and had in fact thought I was done. From time to time you lovely ladies lament that you wish I was still publishing. Though I found that I should add Sephora to my direct deposit accounts while doing this blog, I do miss it. So I have decided to get after it again and bring back GoGorgeous for reals!

I have some SERIOUS catch up to play, considering the duration in which I’ve gone radio silent and the amount of products I’ve been trying, buying or denying. I’m feeling particularly inspired by this GAWGEOUS day today while in NYC learning the ropes of my new gig. The flowers are in full bloom. My walk to Starbucks at lunch took me down to Rockefeller Plaza where I got to see lots of beautiful red tulips. It got me thinking of my two lips, and my need for a new FRESH lip balm! Im currently at the scrape-out-of-the-tube stage.

I love the Sugar Rose because it give you just enough of a hint of color. It’s also super moisturizing and has an SPF. This is pretty much my standing daytime go to if I am just rocking a normal day and not trying to get too jazzy. At night-time or for going out I layer a little Benefit Ultra Shines in Nude Tude.

It offers up the perfect amount of sass and shine without looking like you are trying too hard.  So if you are like me, and you play up your makeup based on the season, its time to get your two lips over to your fave cosmetics spot and try out a new spring look! Let me know how it goes!

True love

In honor of St. Valentine’s day I will post about true love – for Dior. Sorry hubby, I love you too, but this blog isnt about my sappy love life! As I mentioned in one of my posts a few months ago, I’ve been craving a peachy/coral lip look. I went to Sephora yesterday and tried on about 12 different products. I found a few I really liked, but I LOVED Dior Addict Lip Polish in Glow Expert.

It’s gorgeous, dewy, natural and sexy.  Once I tried I had to buy. My husband was not thrilled to see my sack  o’ Sephora sitting on the kitchen table when I got home yesterday but I explained/rationalized that I am conducting research for the blog!

Plus, I also think about cost per wear. This will surely get me through at least 60 applications, so my cost per wear is a mere 50 cents! See, this is actually a bargain!

Back to the product itself – Sephora says “The light coral tone adds sheer, warm color to lips to give luminosity and glow”. I concur.  It’s also super moisturizing and designed to have runway appeal.

It isn’t as dramatic a coral look I was initially thinking but that didn’t matter once I tried it on. I am thinking I may still get a coral lipstick but I will wait until Spring gets closer. For now, I am rocking the DIOR.

Happy Valentines day all – hope to post more later today on the other scores I got yesterday!!!

Trish is here!!!

I cannot tell you how excited I got when I found my Trish #9 waiting on my porch when I got home tonight. If I was a lap dog, say a Pomeranian, I probably would have peed a little on the floor. I AM SO PUMPED! I had to spray a little on even though the rest of my night will consist of eating orange sherbet in my yoga pants on the couch with a little Law & Order SVU + Project Runway. IT SMELLS DIVINE! And, it came with a few more fun samples. One of which is Bliss Body Butter Lite. Like I need another reason to spend more $$ with Bliss! Oh well, life could be worse, couldnt it .

An opportunity to try Benefit on the cheap!

Hey ladies (and gents). Today is dragging and I was sort of at a loss as to what I would post about…that is until I made my daily Sephora visit and saw that they are running a fun, limited time offer!

They are selling a little Benefit sampler for $10. Frequent readers know that I have a special place in my heart for Benefit. I know I’ve turned a lot of people onto “That Gal” primer (check my INAUGURAL post on it!). This is a great opportunity to trial a few things and see what you like. I am sure they’ve got this in store too if you don’t want to order online.  The sampler includes That Gal primer, Posietint (lip & cheek stain), Some Kind of Gorgeous (faux foundation) and High Beam highlighter. It’s definitely a good value, and its a great low risk way to find products you like. Plus if you order online you get three additional free samples. What’s not to love?

Gorgeous girl crush alert

Before I got to know her, I used to say – whats the big deal about Heidi Klum? Yeah, shes got a slammin’ body and shes beautiful and she can work a catwalk. Well she’s obviously proved that there is a hell of a lot more going on with her than just that! After becomming obsessed with Project Runway and then watching her E! True Hollywood story, I have a bona-fide girl crush on this amazing woman. On top of being GORGEOUS she is smart, funny, business-savvy, loving, creative, a great mother / baby factory to the most darling children, sweet, charming…the list could go on forever. Her marriage to Seal is so cute it hurts. And, her halloween costumes and love for halloween blows my mind – I am too a halloween freak. I think its my favorite day of the year.

If you are a fan, there is a great article this month in In Style. And obv you can catch her tonight on Project Runway. I know I will be watching!

Sophia Loren was such a hotsie in her day.  And she’s still holding it down at 76 years old! Seriously, what a stunner! Good genes yes, but I bet she takes spectacular care of herself. She’s an original gorgeous gal (hence the O.G.G., not to be confused with an O.G., which is an original gangster says Dr. Dre). Lets bask in her gorgeousness and be inspired!

Are you a wino like me?

If so- there is probably a good chance you are imbibing on some delish reds these days, and prancing around like what one of my girlfriends calls “Captain Grape Tooth”.

There is a very easy solution to this – be prepared! GoSmile has a great little trick for this with its Flashlites product. They are mini handy-dandy whitening “ampoules” (FANCE) that whiten up your teeth and freshen you up in a jiffer.

They are tiny and discrete enough to keep in the smallest of purses. They will run you about $10 a pack. You can get them at a number of places such as Sephora  and Amazon ( click here to get them at Amazon); if you buy a four pack you get one free at GoSmile. Click here to visit

Not all Captain Grape Tooths are on this type of budget, so for a drugstore quick fix, try Colgate Wisps. These are small enough to tote around. I keep a few at my desk  JIC (just in case). You can find these at any major drug store / discount retailer.

Pretty little things

Numero deuce of my new little series! I fell in love with Dogeared’s delicate and inspirational necklaces over the summer when I got one for a close girl friend who was getting married and moving away two weeks later. They are the sweetest. They’ve since become a gift favorite of mine. I find them especially nice as I do sometimes have a hard time being a sap, and the statement card that accompanies the necklace says it all so eloquently for you!

There is one for every occasion. I think these would be the best bridesmaid gifts! Too bad I got married before I discovered these. Oh well, water under the bridge (hey, it wouldn’t be a post if I didn’t include one cliché phrase!).

Nordstrom carries these but the selection is limited. The Dogeared website has hundreds to choose from. They also have some beautiful earrings and necklaces. Check it out next time you are looking for a sentimental gift for someone you love. Or, if you are looking for a new pretty little thing to adorn your neck!

Don’t forget!

I was thinking earlier today as I put on my moisturizer how very important it is to moisturize your neck. Insert rickety old lady voice, substituting “Don’t forget to moisturize your neck” in place of  “Don’t forget to wash behind your ears! ”

I may sound like a whack job, but I do not have a Madonna-sized plastic surgery budget to work with and right now it’s all about preventive measures! The last thing I want for me and for you gorgeous lasses is to have turkey necks when we are in our 40s and 50s. Or, even fine lines. Gravity is ultimately going to win, but we can stave it off by taking good care of ourselves now! So, if you are making the efforts to apply moisturizer once or twice daily, make sure you get your neck too. It’s sensitive skin and prone to the same effects of aging as your face. I am a paranoid freak when it comes to this stuff but I am hoping all of my ruthless lotion vigilantism pays off for me in the long run!

Spring has not sprung, but lets just pretend

Today is unseasonably warm in Boston (it was 50 degrees on my porch this a.m.) and I happened upon an ad for Essie’s new spring line on the train whilst reading my In Style mag this morning which gave me a flutter of spring fever! Yes, I know its two months away but I will take any little sign its coming. I am completely intrigued by this new line, “The Art of Spring” – ESPECIALLY van d’go and pop art pink. I am not sure if these are in salon’s yet but you best be thinking I will look for it when I go for a mani on Saturday. Has anyone tried these yet? If so, let us know what you think!
