Pretty little things

I am having another leisurely day today, just sitting on the couch drinking my iced coffee, blogging, reading mags and such. I saw that this month’s Lucky has a ring just like one I just purchased  a month ago in the “Our Obsessions” section. I have to agree, I am obsessed with this ring! And, I love that I am on the cutting edge. It makes me happy happy.

I got mine at Vis-A-Vis in Nantucket for a mere $40! Its such a delicate yet stunning little number.  The only in Lucky is very similar and has a more hammered look to it, but is equally feminine and sweet. Its  by Robindira Unsworth for $100 if you want to snag yourself one! (click here to go to the site).

Vis-A-Vis doesn’t have my ring on the site, but they have SHA-MAZING jewelry, and tons of gorgeous vintage pieces. If you are an accessory fanatic like moi, you must pay this site a visit (click here to browse).

The benefits of Benefit

Ok, I am Benefit happy lately. I am facing my issues. I had to post, because I finally put my finger on why I love it so much. Almost all of the products I own from Benefit are aimed at creating a naturally gorgeous & flawless look – they are subtle, tricky and in most cases,  it’s not obvious that there is any makeup at all. Its magic, to put it simply. It’s all about discreetly covering your flaws and emphasizing your strong points. I love love love love this brand for this reason. And I am a lunatic but I think in a good way.  Below, all the Benefit products in my cosmetic tool kit :

(I told you, I am coo coo for cosmetics!)  When you find something good, you stick with it. And if you are like me, you scream it from the rooftop. I am not one to hold back my good finds from my good ladies – everyone deserves to know!

Pretty little things

Just puttering around online today while I watch my House marathon and came across this lovely confection – I NEED! Lucky for me, my gal pal works for Gap – and gets 50% off at Banana. Add this to the list!

Not surprising! Spring part deux

What’s not surprising?  That my friend Liz and I were both posting about spring outfits today without knowing it. We are on the same mental wavelength when it comes to clothes, and at times un-intentionally come to work looking like twinsies. She put together another adorable spring look that I lurve and want. See? I was on to something!

My glamorous cousin Heather sent me this photo she came across from Fashion Week. At first glance you see the Fashion for Haiti line. Look a little closer and you will see none other than…CORAL LIPS! YES! I knew that was going somewhere. I love it. I need it. I have made a pact with my husband though that if I do not spend any money this weekend he will buy me a new swimsuit for our vacation in a few weeks. Tears. But – I will look fab on the beach so I can’t really complain.

True Love – for Dior

My Next Experiment

Shhh don’t tell

So, I made an interesting discovery this weekend. As you may know, I am OB-SESSED with Trish McEvoy #9. I pined for it for MONTHS before I bought it just a mere few weeks ago. Well, I was sniffing around Sephora on Saturday and happened upon Philosophy’s Unconditional Love. Guess what? Its smells REMARKABLY similar to Trish #9. And retails for about half the cost! Hmmm….

I had a sample of it a few months ago but just never made the connection. I really liked it on too.  I am not able to comment on it’s staying power, and that could be a key differentiator.  I will have my Trish f0r a few months as I bought the 1.7 oz bottle BUT I may just grab a pocket sized Unconditional Love (Sephora, ~ $15) for my purse and to test its longevity.  That will also keep my Trish lasting longer. I IS SO SMAHHHHT.

I would be interested to hear if anyone else finds these two fragrances to have such similar notes as I, or if I may be just plain COO COO.

Shadowlust

While trolling the interwebs for new things to post about I came across InStyle’s Best Beauty Buys of 2009. One of the items they feature is on my lust list – Dior 5 Colour Palette. It won best shadow. I also saw it featured in one of my rag mags recently as a fave of the celebs

Click here to get it at Sephora ~ $56

The coolest part about the InStyle feature is that you can actually try it on yourself ! They just launched a new hollywood makeover tool where you can upload a photo of yourself and play around with different celeb hair-dos and all sorts of fun makeup. I found that I look best with Jessica Biel hair. Who knew?

Try it out for yourself – its a nifty distraction! I think I may GaGa myself today. I will share the results if its not too scary! Or maybe I should only show it if its scary. I will take one for the team!
