Breathing Life Back Into GoGorgeous

Well, its been almost a year since I last posted. I kind of went off the grid with writing this blog and had in fact thought I was done. From time to time you lovely ladies lament that you wish I was still publishing. Though I found that I should add Sephora to my direct deposit accounts while doing this blog, I do miss it. So I have decided to get after it again and bring back GoGorgeous for reals!

I have some SERIOUS catch up to play, considering the duration in which I’ve gone radio silent and the amount of products I’ve been trying, buying or denying. I’m feeling particularly inspired by this GAWGEOUS day today while in NYC learning the ropes of my new gig. The flowers are in full bloom. My walk to Starbucks at lunch took me down to Rockefeller Plaza where I got to see lots of beautiful red tulips. It got me thinking of my two lips, and my need for a new FRESH lip balm! Im currently at the scrape-out-of-the-tube stage.

I love the Sugar Rose because it give you just enough of a hint of color. It’s also super moisturizing and has an SPF. This is pretty much my standing daytime go to if I am just rocking a normal day and not trying to get too jazzy. At night-time or for going out I layer a little Benefit Ultra Shines in Nude Tude.

It offers up the perfect amount of sass and shine without looking like you are trying too hard.  So if you are like me, and you play up your makeup based on the season, its time to get your two lips over to your fave cosmetics spot and try out a new spring look! Let me know how it goes!

Going off the grid

Sorry in advance, but you are getting another mascara post, and you are going to LIKE IT! My YSL mascara is near the very bottom, and you know how I feel about Benefit’s That Gal. So… I was in a state of mind that was easily persuade-able. One of my friends read the Benefit post and let me in on her ittle little secret – Cover Girl ! I am a huge drug store makeup snot. As you’ve probably noticed. I was open and willing to try it though. And was pleased with the results. The Lash Blast Luxe has a bit of shimmer and color. I got the Black Emerald. It’s very subtle in terms of color, but the brush was great, and my lashes look long and voluminous. It’s about $8 bucks, so for those on a money diet ( I need to start one STAT) this is a great economical choice.  It comes in four different tints. Hope you likes!

An Arnold Palmer

It has been many many weeks since last I posted. I started to lose my mojo. My golden gal LL reminded me to post this weekend so I had to get back in the saddle.  For your viewing pleasure – a new product review!

You know that I am the first person to rave about Benefit. I do it quite frequently. I happened upon the Bad Gal Lash in Plum a few weeks back and I have to say – it falls into the Arnold Palmer category – half and half, comme ci comme ca, metza metz. Here’s why –

Pros:

  • It makes my green/blue eyes pop
  • Its really fun and different
  • I couldn’t find any other highish-end cosmetic brands that carried a similar color

Cons:

  • It isn’t very dramatic
  • It doesn’t last very long
  • It smudges all over the place and I look like I have two black eyes in the morning if I forgot to take it off

I tried to find a comparison to do for all y’all but couldn’t find one. I’ve used the blue Dior before and loved it so I guess I am holding it to that bar of colored mascaras. Would I buy it again? Probably not. Will I wear it till its gone? You betcha. Shout if you have any other fun color ideas for me! Anxious to try!

Not surprising! Spring part deux

What’s not surprising?  That my friend Liz and I were both posting about spring outfits today without knowing it. We are on the same mental wavelength when it comes to clothes, and at times un-intentionally come to work looking like twinsies. She put together another adorable spring look that I lurve and want. Check it out below, and click here to read more on lizdidit.com.

Spring-y thingies

This 60 degree weather today has me obsessing over spring shopping, spring colors, warm weather, fun makeup and cocktails al fresco!  I am technically not supposed to be shopping, so I web window shopped tonight. Here’s the outfit I came up with – a smattering of adorable season appropriate items from my fave sites:

Aren’t these items TDF? Oh how I want thee.  I even have a makeup look I would wear. Dewy, fresh and light of course. Given that I am not allowed to shop if  I am ever going to get a beautiful house on the ocean someday, I will refrain from pulling the trigger on these gorgeous pieces. A  gal can dream though, right? See? I was on to something!

My glamorous cousin Heather sent me this photo she came across from Fashion Week. At first glance you see the Fashion for Haiti line. Look a little closer and you will see none other than…CORAL LIPS! YES! I knew that was going somewhere. I love it. I need it. I have made a pact with my husband though that if I do not spend any money this weekend he will buy me a new swimsuit for our vacation in a few weeks. Tears. But – I will look fab on the beach so I can’t really complain.

True Love – for Dior

My Next Experiment

Shhh don’t tell

So, I made an interesting discovery this weekend. As you may know, I am OB-SESSED with Trish McEvoy #9. I pined for it for MONTHS before I bought it just a mere few weeks ago. Well, I was sniffing around Sephora on Saturday and happened upon Philosophy’s Unconditional Love. Guess what? Its smells REMARKABLY similar to Trish #9. And retails for about half the cost! Hmmm….

I had a sample of it a few months ago but just never made the connection. I really liked it on too.  I am not able to comment on it’s staying power, and that could be a key differentiator.  I will have my Trish f0r a few months as I bought the 1.7 oz bottle BUT I may just grab a pocket sized Unconditional Love (Sephora, ~ $15) for my purse and to test its longevity.  That will also keep my Trish lasting longer. I IS SO SMAHHHHT.

I would be interested to hear if anyone else finds these two fragrances to have such similar notes as I, or if I may be just plain COO COO.
